Townsville Grammar School is one of the original Grammar Schools of Queensland. The Year 7-12 campus is located on the original site at North Ward. The School also operates two Junior School campuses, both offering Pre-Prep to Year 6, at Annandale and North Shore.
Townsville Grammar School is a co-educational, non-denominational School with a current enrolment of approximately 1400 students, including 120 boarders (7-12), of whom approximately 25 are international students.
As one of the eight original Grammar Schools in Queensland, Townsville Grammar School was established in 1888 and has offered boarding since this time. The School has a long-standing reputation as the leading academic school in Northern Queensland, also offering the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme for Years 11 and 12.
We have an opportunity at our Annandale campus for an experienced Prep Teacher Aide to commence in Term 3, 2026 for a 12-month contract. The hours for this position are six hours per day, five days per week, term-time only.
The Prep Teacher Aide duties include working with individual students and small groups in the classroom with a focus of literacy and numeracy, providing assistance to students with disabilities or learning difficulties and assisting in the supervision of educational activities under the direction of a teacher.
To be successful in this role, you will require:
- The ability to work with children with a wide variety of needs.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Minimum Certificate III in Education Support or other relevant qualification (highly desirable).
- Proficiency in the use of common computer software.
- Valid Working with Children Paid Employee Blue Card (mandatory prior to commencement).
- Eligibility to work in Australia (mandatory).
- Senior First Aid certificate.
