Townsville Grammar School is seeking outstanding educators to join our Senior School as Heads of House.

These are exciting opportunities for passionate teachers who are committed to student wellbeing, pastoral care, and leadership. Applications are welcomed from teachers across all teaching specialisations who are eager to make a meaningful impact on the lives of young people beyond the classroom.

Successful candidates will hold permanent teaching positions within the School and undertake a Head of House Position of Added Responsibility (PAR) for an initial two-year term.

About the Head of House Role

The Head of House is a highly visible and influential middle leadership position that sits at the heart of the School community.

Working closely with students, families, Form Teachers, the Head of Senior School and the broader Pastoral Care Team, the Head of House provides leadership, guidance and support to students while fostering House spirit, belonging, character development and wellbeing.

To support the pastoral leadership responsibilities of the Head of House, this position attracts a reduced teaching load of 36 periods per fortnight (compared to the standard teaching allocation of 50 periods). • Promote high standards of conduct, presentation and student accountability.
  • Lead House assemblies and House-based activities throughout the year.
  • Coordinate and support camps, activities and significant student events.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of the School's Pastoral Care Framework and Strategic Vision.
  • Model the School's values of integrity, humility, courage, respect and a positive mindset.
