Townsville Grammar School is one of the original Grammar Schools of Queensland. The Year 7-12 campus is located on the original site at North Ward. The School also operates two Junior School campuses, both offering Pre-Prep to Year 6, at Annandale and North Shore.

Permanent Opportunity - Commencing Term 1, 2027 (.6 FTE - 3 days per week)

Townsville Grammar School is seeking a passionate and dedicated Learning Support Teacher to join our Junior School team working three days per week at our North Shore Campus. This rewarding role provides an opportunity to work closely with students, teachers, parents and external specialists to ensure students with diverse learning needs are supported to achieve their full potential.

Working within a collaborative and student-centred environment, you will provide targeted learning support to students through in-class, small group and individual interventions, while assisting in the development and implementation of educational adjustments and support programs.

About the Role

Reporting to the Learning Support Coordinator and Head of Junior School, you will:

• Support students with diverse learning needs through individual, small group and classroom-based interventions.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers to develop and implement effective learning adjustments.
• Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records of achievement and growth.
• Liaise with parents, external professionals and relevant support agencies regarding student needs and educational planning.
• Assist with verification processes and support programs for students requiring adjustments.
• Contribute positively to the life of the School through participation in meetings, professional development and school activities.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

• Relevant teaching qualifications and current Queensland College of Teachers (QCT) registration.
• Experience supporting primary-aged students with diverse learning needs.
• A strong understanding of inclusive education, differentiated teaching practices and educational adjustments.
• Excellent communication, collaboration and interpersonal skills.
•  The ability to build positive relationships with students, families and colleagues.
• A commitment to fostering student wellbeing, engagement and academic success.

A willingness to contribute to the pastoral, co-curricular and community life of the School, and a commitment to the ethos and values of independent education, are essential.
