Transport Operations Supervisor - Permanent, Full-Time Opportunity
Townsville Grammar School is seeking an experienced and proactive Transport Operations Supervisor to lead the day-to-day operation of the School’s transport services. This important role is responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient and reliable operation of the School’s bus network, including the supervision of drivers, coordination of services, management of compliance obligations and oversight of the School’s bus fleet and pool vehicles.
Working closely with a range of internal and external stakeholders, you will play a key role in maintaining high service standards while ensuring compliance with all relevant transport, safety and regulatory requirements.
About the Role
Reporting to the Assistant Business Manager (General), you will:
- Coordinate daily bus operations, routes and driver movements to ensure safe and efficient service delivery.
- Develop and manage transport schedules that comply with NHVR, TMR and WHS requirements.
- Provide day-to-day supervision, onboarding, induction and operational support to bus drivers.
- Conduct driver assessments and contribute to ongoing staff development and performance management.
- Respond effectively to operational disruptions, including vehicle breakdowns, staffing shortages, weather events and service delays.
- Manage incident reporting, investigations, corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Conduct audits and inspections of buses and related equipment to ensure safety, cleanliness and compliance standards are maintained.
- Coordinate fleet maintenance, repairs, registrations and on-road compliance requirements for buses and pool vehicles.
- Manage Queensland Transport Operator Accreditation, NHVR compliance requirements and associated systems.
- Provide transport compliance advice and operational guidance to management, drivers and other stakeholders.
- Assist with the management of externally provided bus services and transport contractors.
- Support the development and implementation of transport technology solutions, including electronic booking and passenger tracking systems.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will possess:
- Experience coordinating transport or bus operations, including scheduling, route management and service delivery.
- A sound understanding of NHVR requirements, Queensland Transport Operator Accreditation and workplace health and safety obligations.
- Demonstrated supervisory experience, including leading operational teams and supporting employee onboarding and training.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, particularly in responding to operational disruptions and unexpected events.
- Experience conducting compliance inspections, audits and implementing corrective actions.
- Excellent organisational, communication and stakeholder management skills.
- A current Heavy Rigid (HR) Licence, or the ability to obtain and maintain one.
- A TMR Industry Authority, or the ability to obtain one.
- A current Working with Children Blue Card, or the ability to obtain one.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification, or the ability to obtain.
