Townsville Grammar School is one of the original Grammar Schools of Queensland. The Year 7-12 campus is located on the original site at North Ward. The School also operates two Junior School campuses, both offering Pre-Prep to Year 6, at Annandale and North Shore.
Townsville Grammar School is a co-educational, non-denominational School with a current enrolment of approximately 1250 students, including 125 boarders (7-12), of whom approximately 25 are international students.
As one of the eight original Grammar schools in Queensland, Townsville Grammar School was established in 1888 and has offered boarding since this time. The School has a long-standing reputation as the leading academic school in Northern Queensland, also offering the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme for Years 11 and 12.
We have a casual opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated Junior Laboratory Assistant with an interest in science education to join our science laboratory at our North Ward campus. This position is ideally suited to a candidate who is studying for a Bachelor of Education with a teaching area in Science.
This position is casual term time only - up to 15-20 hours per week.
Duties of the role include:
- Preparation of equipment and materials for use in Science classrooms.
- Dismantling, cleaning and storing of equipment and materials after use.
- Equipment maintenance.
- Ordering of equipment and materials as required and approved by Head of Faculty.
- Taking delivery of stocks of materials and equipment
- Clerical duties such as filing,

About our ideal candidate
Ideally, you will be able to demonstrate the following:
- Interest in science education (preferably studying towards science education degree)
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Proficiency in the use of common computer software (Excel, MS Teams).
- Valid Working with Children Paid Employee Blue Card (mandatory prior to commencement).
- Drivers licence
- Eligibility to work in Australia (mandatory).
