Townsville Grammar School is one of the original Grammar Schools of Queensland. The Year 7-12 campus is located on the original site at North Ward. The School also operates two Junior School campuses, both offering Pre-Prep to Year 6, at Annandale and North Shore.
Townsville Grammar School is a co-educational, non-denominational School with a current enrolment of approximately 1400 students, including 120 boarders (7-12), of whom approximately 25 are international students.
As one of the eight original Grammar schools in Queensland, Townsville Grammar School was established in 1888 and has offered boarding since this time. The School has a long-standing reputation as the leading academic school in Northern Queensland, also offering the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme for Years 11 and 12.
Townsville Grammar School is seeking two reliable and dedicated Facilities and Grounds Assistants to join our Operations team on a full-time, permanent basis. One role will be based at our North Ward Campus and the other at our Annandale Campus.

The Facilities and Grounds Assistants play a key role in maintaining a clean, safe and well-presented environment for students, staff, and visitors.
About the Role
Reporting directly to the Works Manager, the successful applicants will be responsible for:
- Performing minor building maintenance and repairs
- Relocating school furniture and equipment as needed
- Maintaining lawns, gardens, and school surrounds using appropriate tools and machinery
- Blowing, water blasting, spraying and general upkeep of hard surfaces and outdoor areas
- Daily collection of rubbish and waste management
- Reporting maintenance issues, vandalism or damage promptly
- Supporting safe work practices in line with school policies and WHS standards
- Assisting with grounds support across all school campuses when required
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Adequate physical fitness to meet the demands of the role
- Experience using hand tools, green-keeping equipment, and small power tools
- A strong understanding of workplace health and safety principles
- A proactive and reliable attitude with the ability to work independently or as part of a team
- A current Working with Children Blue Card (or the ability to obtain one)
Applicants must hold a valid Working with Children Paid Employee Blue Card prior to commencement.
